Andreas is a postdoctoral researcher and University Assistant in the Visual Data Science Lab at Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz, Austria. He shares PI duties for JKU with Marc Streit.
Andreas’ research focuses on bringing techniques from visualization and machine learning together. He is especially interested in making results from dimensionality reduction techniques—often called embeddings—more explainable. Within the DANIO Re-CODE project, such embeddings may be applied to single-cell data and spatio-temporal multi-omics data.
Andreas received his PhD from JKU in 2022, after working in a collaborative research project with Imperial College London. As a part of that project, he spent one year at the Biomedical Image Analysis (BioMedIA) group at Imperial. Currently, Andreas is teaching multiple courses about data visualization at JKU. He has also taught courses at the Imperial College Business School and at Donau University Krems.
