Typical genome browsers as of today such as IGV, UCSC, Ensembl, and WashU are reference genome coordinate-based and designed for the visual representation of genomic regions, their sequence variants as well as quantitative data, such as expression quantification from bulk RNA-seq experiments. These are typically shown in tracks. Meanwhile a lot of data is generated also on the single-cell level, and these are typically visualised in two-dimensional scatter plots representing projections of the high-dimensional data using methods such as tSNE or UMAP. The objective of this project is to develop novel approaches for genome browsing that not only enables simultaneous visualisation of single-cell and bulk-cell data but also allows the visualisation of time series data of various omics modalities as well as cross-species comparison of omics data.
